Class Descriptions

All Levels - This class is open to all levels of experience and physical ability. Instructors will provide modifications for beginners and advanced variations for those seeking a challange

Ashtanga Yoga - Ashtanga yoga is a traditional system of yoga consisting of six set series of postures that are designed to be followed in sequence. The first series which will be our focus is known as the Primary Series. This is a challenging practice, but students are encouraged to rest when necessary -- gradually building up endurance over time. Although modifications will be given, this is not a beginner's class. You must attend the Intro to Ashtanga workshop or have instructor's approval to participate.

Fundamentals - This is an introductory class. The pace is slower and the effect more gentle. This class is for any student new to yoga or for students less physically active.

Gentle Yoga - Gentle Yoga is open to all levels, but especially for those interested in a slower paced class with restorative poses and the use of props.

Hot Yoga - An energetic and powerful practice that will recharge one's batteries as well as cleanse the body as toxins are sweated from the body in a heated environment.

Pre-Natal Yoga - This is an on-going course for expectant mothers that focuses on particular postures to aid the mother during pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum.

Power Lunch Yoga- This 45 minute Vinyasa yoga class is an abbreviated version of our All Levels class for those who don't have a full hour or more to commit. The special drop-in rate for the power lunch class is $8.

Vinyasa/Flow Yoga - The word Vinyasa means "to move with the breath," making this style of yoga an energetic and rejuvenating experience. A posture is held for a counted number of breaths before it flows into the next like a moving meditation. This class is open to all levels, but some prior yoga experience or moderate physical ability would be beneficial.

Yoga Happy Hour - Leave your worries at the door and start your weekend with a class that's all about having a good time. This playful Vinyasa yoga class is set to an upbeat mix of modern and eclectic music and is open to all levels. Be prepared to let your hair down! This class may include some partner work.

Ashtanga Mysore Style - This is the style of Ashtanga yoga that is taught in Mysore, India, in it's traditional form. This is NOT a typical class where the teacher leads you through the practice. Beginning students are taught the primary series of postures one-on-one beginning with sun salutations, and poses are then added to their practice as the series is memorized and as the student is able to progress. Each pose builds on the next to create a powerful personal practice that you can take with you wherever you go. All levels are welcome, but keep in mind that this type of yoga practice requires dedication and commitment in order to see real progress. The window for the class will be 2 hours. You can join the class at any time during that period, and an instructor will be there to guide you and assist you with your personal practice.
